Friends of Christ Church Christ Church was built in 1841. It is an oustanding example of a Victorian Gothic Revival Church. The original design was by the architect Anthony Salvin. There are many interesting features such as the Munich stained glass, the unusual pulpit, the altar which is a copy of William of Wykeham's tomb in Winchester Cathedral, and the superb marquetry panels made on the Bedgebury estate, all of which make this a building to be treasured. Like so many village churches, it needs constant attention to maintain the fabric in good condition. The Friends of Christ Church was formed in 2002 to help raise funds for this purpose. Our social events aim to bring together anyone and everyone who cares about our village church, whether or not they attend church services. Our aim is to build a circle of Friends to ensure the future of this unique building. The annual subscription is currently £5 per member. Please help us to keep our village church.
